A Hive of Scribes – Fundraiser

On Friday, 29th March forget about Brexit and come along to the Little Theatre where at 7.30 pm The Pen & I, Nairn’s creative writing group will be presenting ‘A Hive of Scribes’, an evening of readings of poetry and prose. There may be a little music too. There will be a raffle and refreshments. The cost will be £8 payable at the door and all proceeds will be donated to Green Hive, Nairn’s environmental charity.

Christmas Get Together

Join us at the Green Hive Hub at the Old Links School this Friday 21st Dec 6-8pm. There will be mince pies, drinks and snacks, but feel free to bring a drink or a dish along too. Green Hive awarded Big Lottery Funding

We have been successful in attracting a substantial two year grant from the Big Lottery Fund (BLF) to start in January 2019. This grant will enable Green Hive to expand the volunteer projects and activities it runs and through piloting social enterprise introduce regular volunteering and work experience opportunities in Nairn. Big Lottery Fund Scotland Chair, Maureen McGinn, said: “I am delighted that Nairn River Enterprise’s Green Hive project has been successful in securing a Big Lottery Fund grant. Green Hive NRE Annual General Meeting

Steer the work of Green Hive! The AGM takes place this year on Monday 12th November, starting at 7 pm in the Green Hive Hub at the Old Links School, Grant Street, Fishertown. You will hear about the work and achievements of the Green Hive team over the last year and have the chance to shape plans for next year. We will be exploring options for starting our first social enterprise project in the coming year, as well as growing our existing orchard project and Bumblebags up cycling project. What a load of rubbish!

More than 50 people got together to clear rubbish from the central and east beach and riverside. Hosted by Nairn Sailing Club, we ate lunch together to warm up and discuss who found the strangest stuff. But it was the usual cigarette butts, small bits of single use plastic and discarded barbecues that dominated the finds and the conversation. Kids Day at Viewfield

A big thank you to Nairn Book and Arts Festival for setting up Kids Day and inviting Green Hive to join with our activities. Around 100 adults and 50 children came along to our tent and tables, to enjoy the apple paint printing and apple juice press. It was a great way to spend a Saturday in Nairn and fantastic to see the orchard so full of people (and apples!).
