A home for Nairn River Enterprise

One step closer to securing a base for our enterprise…we have agreed the key points of a proposed lease with the owner of a cottage near the river at King George V playing fields, in the form a Heads of Terms document. All that remains is conclusion of detailed discussions about the final content of the lease (a second draft), advice from respective lawyers and some further attention to the complexities of insurance. We’ll post pictures and more information as soon as we’re near sign-off. Meanwhile, if you’d like to learn more do get in touch, or better still, join up…

Now a not-for-profit company

On 1st December NRE was registered as a company limited by guarantee. This means that should we ever make a profit this money has to go back into the services we run, not the pockets of our members. It also means we are in a much stronger position to raise funds to set up projects that can benefit Nairn and deliver employability opportunities to local people. We STILL haven’t got our bank account – we first applied back in November. The delay is partly due to poor communications by the banks (they haven’t told us everything they need to know up front,…

Onwards and upwards

It’s been great to hear from so many people in support of our plan. There’s now 15 of you signed up as founder members of the Social Enterprise and we’ll be meeting next Tuesday to kick off a two or three week flurry of activity to get the Company limited by Guarantee and its bank account set up. We’re also going to be considering three options for premises and deciding on working groups to get some projects going.
